• VIP Waitlist

A couple of weeks ago I was thinking about enrolling in a 12-Week Baltic Cake Course. Each week the instructor would teach me how to create amazingly delicious and breathtaking cakes using recipes from around the world.

The instructor is a young 20-something gal that I first learned about on the HGTV show, House Hunters International, (no I’m not making that up 😂). I tracked her down on Instagram, got on her email list and have been crazy-intrigued about her cake courses ever since.

I ultimately decided that I’d rather enroll in a course like that in the fall vs. in the spring so I let the opportunity pass by for now.

Once she filled her course to capacity she sent out an email letting all of us know that she had closed enrollment.

Then she went on to explain that in September she would be running a 12-week cheesecake course. Not just any cheesecakes though… she would be teaching us how to create the most decadent and gorgeous cheesecakes 🍰your eyes have ever seen.

And then it happened! The next thing she wrote in her email was brilliant. It was an invitation to join her September cheesecake course VIP waitlist.

And you know what?

I immediately added my name to her waitlist.

Waitlists are one of my favorite strategies to implement so people who have an interest in working with you can take action in the moment when they are most fired up about what’s possible.

The best part is that you can do exactly what my cake lady did and set up a waitlist for your program so you have an idea of who on your list is excited to join you the next time you open the doors.

STRATEGIES FOR STARTING A WAITLIST TO INCREASE SALES

STRATEGY #1 – A VIP Waitlist Page

If you run a program with limited time access or limited number of spots, a waitlist is a great way to continue gathering leads and interest when the program is closed or full.

By doing this, you’ll simply be able to direct all additional interested clients to a waitlist for your future group registration. When you use this strategy, it would be best if you already have the date of the future group registration already figured out so the people registering for the waitlist are 100% clear what your plan is and how long they’ll have to wait to work with you.

The easiest way to set this up is to create a landing page that will allow each person to add their name and email address to your waitlist. You’ll also want to have a waitlist confirmation email set up in your email management system that will be delivered immediately to congratulate them on being added to the waitlist and that gives them all the details of your future program open date.

STRATEGY #2 – Incorporate A VIP Waitlist into Your Prelaunch Runway

When you are immersed in your prelaunch strategy, sharing details of your program ahead of time, doing mini trainings, and sending specific emails, your audience will get more and more excited. You want to give them an opportunity to do something with that excitement and adding their name to a VIP waitlist is the perfect option.

As with the first waitlist strategy, it’s a quick and easy setup. Simply create a landing page that will allow leads to add their name and email address to your VIP waitlist. You’ll also want to have a waitlist confirmation email set up in your email management system that will be delivered immediately to congratulate them on being added to the waitlist.

In addition to the confirmation email I recommend sending additional contact emails every 7-10 days leading up to your launch, sharing program related content. This can include:

  • Links to blog posts related to your program content
  • Case studies and testimonials
  • Pre-program content that will make their desire to enroll in your program an easier YES
  • Behind-the-scenes information of what’s coming in your program
