When The Universe Comes Knocking
You Better Answer The Door

This is part three of a five part series I am writing about the successes and failures in my business. Here’s part two if you need to catch up!

Okay – when we last left off, I was NOT in the best place! I had stopped working with my business coach and I was overwhelmed and exhausted. Not to mention, I still hadn’t found that elusive key to success that I had been looking endlessly for 2 ½ years.

To say that letting go of my business coach was discouraging would be an understatement. I had truly put all of my eggs into that one basket and after a year of working with her I felt completely alone.

Don’t get me wrong, I had made advancements in my business and I was making a steady monthly income, however, it still wasn’t anywhere near what I thought it would be at this point. I was just grateful that I had money coming through the doors.

So there it was, June, 2013 and I had concluded that there must NOT be a missing key. I figured I just needed to work harder to see greater rewards. Plus, I was so over the business coaching thing. I wouldn’t be investing in one of those again any time soon.

Fast-forward 5 months to a day when I was in my office working on my husband’s business, (yes, I’m still doing that even today), and I received an email from Instant Teleseminar. I had never, ever even glanced at one of their emails. As soon as I would see them come into my inbox it was always delete, delete, delete.

For some reason on this particular day, November 1^st, 2013, I didn’t click delete. Instead I read the email, (the universe was speaking to me loud and clear). The email talked about an interview that the sender had conducted with a business coach, discussing how she uses Instant Teleseminar to grow her business.

I thought to myself, “hmmm…. I wonder if she has any tricks up her sleeve that would help me grow my email list”. So I listened to the interview.

The interview was titled: “Work Smarter: Copy Success”, (a coincidence? I don’t think so!)

The next 45 minutes changed my life and my business FOREVER.

Why? Because she openly and ‘freely’ revealed the missing key I had been striving to find for almost 3 years.

What???? The missing key came in a free interview? Are you kidding me?

During the call she talked about systems and processes. She shared about the importance of a signature program, (like the anchor of a business). But the most unbelievable part about the interview for me was that she not only shared the “what to do” she also shared the “how to do it”.

Wow! I instantly felt like the dark clouds passed and the sun was shining brightly on me and my business.

After listening to that interview I was on a mission!!!

Who was this ‘missing-key-giving-woman’ and how could I work with her?

Finally a coach that didn’t speak in circles that I could relate to. I was so excited and giddy I immediately called my husband to share the news.

Within one week I was working with her in a private one-on-one coaching program. (Yes, even though I said I would never do that again… I did it. When it’s the right fit you just know it.)

Quick question…. Has the universe ever stepped into your life and caused you to do something you wouldn’t have normally done that results in the most amazing transformation in your life?

I believe that’s what happened to me on that day.

My first coaching call with her was on November 18^th, 2013, and I received more value, support and guidance in that one hour than I did the entire year working with my other coach.

It became very clear rather quickly that I had been focusing on the wrong priorities in my business. Sure developing new programs and promoting was necessary but once per month just wasn’t sustainable, so with her help we developed a new plan of action.

One new blog post or KarenPattock.TV video episode per week.
List building was a top priority… bigger list = more revenue.
I got super clear on who my ideal client was and promised to never water down my message or be generic again.
I would create my signature program within the next six months.

Having identified priorities and goals in any business is imperative for success and it didn’t take long to realize that I had found the business model that was a PERFECT fit for me.

It wouldn’t be long before I would confirm that I had finally found the missing key and that I was now one of the “insider” group that knew the secret to building a successful online business.

I still can’t believe that I didn’t discover it sooner. (Hint: when you make 5-figures in 10 days, you’re probably on to something!)

But we’ll save that story for next time…
