Increase Profits

Over the years of working with and mentoring health coaches and wellness professionals, I’ve been in the front row to see what differentiates a profitable health coach from a hobbyist.

I can’t tell you how many times each week I hear from coaches that tell me they weren’t taught anything about how to build a business through their coaching certification program.

In fact, here’s a direct quote from a coach that emailed me last week, “I thought I’d be prepared, but I wasn’t.  I’ve learned more from your podcast than I did in the school about marketing.”

Do you feel the same way?

Are you ready to coach and have clients but getting them to notice you or better yet, hire you, is something you feel fuzzy about?

That’s because wellness coaching schools aren’t set up to teach marketing. Let’s face it, it just isn’t their area of expertise.

Let’s discuss the 3 things profitable health coaches do differently that contribute to their success.

The #1 thing profitable health coaches do is that they seek out mentors to shorten their learning curve and speed up their success. Between myself and Kathleen, we’ve invested over $100,000 in coaches, courses, live events, and trainings to learn what we need to know to stay current with the trends that are going on.

Each mentor, course or event brought something unique to the table and helped us in some way or another – from mindset shifts to strategies, to making important connections and sometimes, seeing the bigger picture which led to huge breakthroughs – it all played a part for us.

We know that you can learn a lot for free. The Wellness Business Podcast is one example and of course there’s YouTube, but if you want to get the whole plan from A-Z, it means making the investment in the right people, courses or trainings. It’s really making an investment in yourself because when you implement what you learn from mentors you trust, you WILL see a significant return on investment.

The second thing that profitable health coaches do differently is that they go all in on one niche. I can’t even tell you the dramatic before and after stories I hear when coaches choose a specific niche and that’s their only focus. We see this all the time with our students in our Wellness Business Accelerator program.

When you go from being very general about who you help to narrowing it down to helping a particular segment of the population solve a problem that they know they have, you stand out to your ideal clients and it’s so much easier to fill your programs.

Here are some stories from other health coaches who completely transformed their businesses after defining their niche.

So, going all in on one niche isn’t optional if you want to stand out, get noticed and grow a profitable coaching business.

The third thing that profitable health coaches do differently is they implement rinse and repeat systems. This means they aren’t recreating the wheel every time they do something, and many processes are automated.

Your time is limited, so having rinse and repeat and automated systems is critical. This comes into play with the way coaches create systems for structuring their coaching sessions, discovery calls, scheduling client sessions, and setting up email automation when new subscribers sign up for a lead magnet, just to name a few.

Let’s take scheduling client sessions as one example. When you set up an online scheduling system such as Calendly or Acuity, you save time by not having the back and forth with your client trying to coordinate a date and time that you are both available.

Another way to implement a repeatable system in your business is through your client attraction system.

We teach the step-by-step ‘how to’ inside the Wellness Business Accelerator program and it’s amazing what happens when you implement just a few of these systems in your business.

Kathleen and I have worked with thousands of health coaches over the years and there are a few things that we’ve documented about the ones who grow profitable businesses all have in common.

Want to know what those things are?

Here’s the good news!
