Where should you really put your focus next year when it comes to goal setting?

Everyone is talking about goal setting for the New Year.

  • Set financial goals.
  • Set fitness goals.
  • Set time management goals.
  • Set your <you fill in the blank> goals.

Which goals are the most important?

Do they really work?

Today I thought we could discuss the “One Thing” you should be setting goals around in the New Year.

If you ask around some people believe financial goals are the most important.

But that can lead to a can of worms.

Financial goals need to be supported by the programs, products and services you offer.

Do you have a set of core offerings that speak to your target audience?

Getting those in order can lead to needing to set specific time management goals to get it all figured out.

Which then lead to campaign promotion date goals.

Which lead to…

Well you get the idea.

Building an online business can be fast-paced and overwhelming.

And if you have that entrepreneurial mindset at heart you have more ideas and opportunities to make money than you could ever possibly explore.

Ahhh…. welcome to my day-to-day struggle.

Recently I read a book that I’ve been hearing about all year. It’s called The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results

The context of the book is that when you set ONE GOAL and one goal only, and focus on it until you complete that goal, you will succeed in completing that goal at a much quicker pace.

So I’ve been testing it for the last 30 days.

I’ve been forcing myself to stay 100% focused on my top priority until it reaches completion.

I set a dedicated number of hours aside each day to direct my complete attention to accomplishing my goal.

No other distractions!

No email.

No texting.

No calendar popups.

Just time set aside to get the job done.

The results have been extraordinary.

My crazy monkey brain has gone into hiatus.

I feel less scattered.

And the biggest test of all… I’m getting more done in a shorter period of time.

So it’s working exactly as I was hoping it would.

If you feel like you could use a blueprint to:

  1. Be more productive
  2. Stay focused on completing a single task
  3. Want to move away from the “shiny object syndrome” that so many of us suffer from…

…. this book is a great resource.

Or start today by doing the following:

Make a list of all the tasks you want to complete in the next 30 days.

Prioritize the list.

Focus only on task #1 until it is complete.

Set time aside each day / week to work on that task.

Don’t let ANYTHING interfere with that time.

Close your door. Turn off your phone. Shut down all social media platforms.

Protect that time like your business depends on it.

Because it really does!

This process works. I’m living proof. (And no one has more of a crazy monkey brain than I do.)

Once you give it a try let me know how it goes by posting below in the comments.

Your destiny, your success and your income depends on you.

Build structure and good habits into your business and you WILL see success.

And best of all, you’ll reach your goals in the New Year.
