Raise your hand if you have a Facebook group that isn’t as instrumental in getting you new clients as you thought it would be when you created it. 🙋‍♀️

I hear this from coaches pretty often and after talking to many of them and helping them troubleshoot I’ve noticed that there is almost always one specific reason or another why there is a disconnect.

Facebook groups are still a great way to build relationships and get coaching clients, as long as you have a few key strategies in place.

First, setting the right expectation and goals for your group is important. 

While many coaches think that getting high engagement is the most important metric to measure, the ultimate metric is how many clients you’re getting from your group.

Believe it or not, I’ve heard from many of my paying clients that they’ve been hanging out in my group for years but never commented or engaged a single time. That tells me that group engagement, while it’s important, isn’t the end-all-be-all for turning group members into paying clients.


Let’s discuss three ways to get more health coaching clients from your Facebook group.

1) Being very clear about who you help and how you help them.

Can people tell right away who your group is for and what you do? This comes into play several ways including the name of your group and the type of content you share. 

Having a successful FB group comes down to having a defined group name and theme that will attract the right people and allow members to get to know you and see you as a knowledgeable and trustworthy expert.

2) People need to get to know you before they invest! Video is the best way to do this. 

If you think about the people that you follow on social media or the groups that you belong to, who are the ones you feel you know the most?  It’s almost certainly those who are doing video, right? Whether it’s live or recorded, it helps build a connection. 

You don’t really get to know people with just graphics, photos and motivational quotes – people want to know YOU as a person. When people feel a connection with you, they are much more likely to take the next step by working with you.

3) Making offers frequently enough.

This is the missing piece in many groups because we know you don’t want to come across as being salesy – but if people don’t know what you do, how can they enroll in your paid programs?
