Facebook

Using Facebook to find your dream clients, get their attention, and eventually get them on your email list can often feel like a race you just can’t win.

Simply put, things are changing fast on Facebook and it’s hard to keep up.

With the platform always changing its algorithm, it can be difficult to know what makes the most sense for your wellness business. Regardless, in the current climate it is evident that video and groups are here to stay.

A Health Coach recently asked this question, (have you asked yourself a similar question)…

Should I do away with my Facebook page and start a Facebook group instead? I have a Facebook page for my wellness business, but it doesn’t get much reach. Should I do away with the page and encourage people to join the group?

Such a great question because sometimes it can be hard to decipher what makes the most sense on platforms like Facebook, especially when things keep changing.

SHOULD I HAVE A FACEBOOK GROUP OR A FACEBOOK PAGE?

Since your Facebook page is one way people can find your group, I don’t recommend abandoning your page if it’s one of your main social media platforms for your business.  Your page is like a billboard for your business, and if people find it and see nothing has been posted for weeks or months, they may think you don’t have your business any longer and we don’t want that. You can reduce the number of posts to 2-3 times a week, but don’t do away with it altogether because it’s still a free marketing channel you can use that can drive new subscribers to your group.

Another reason that maintaining a Facebook page is in your best interest is because Pages are indexed by Google. Which means when someone does a search for the keywords attached to your page or they search directly for your name your Facebook page will pop up near the top of the search results. As I said, your page is like a billboard for your business and you’ll definitely want that billboard popping up in Google search results.

LIVE OR RECORDED VIDEO – WHAT’S BETTER?

As I’ve already stated, the Facebook algorithm is always changing, however, the one thing that seems to remain consistent and has for a long time is that video is a favorite for the platform and gets far more organic reach than anything else.

The question that remains is whether you should do live or recorded video?

I’ll start by saying all video is good when it comes to getting more organic reach on Facebook. Let’s break it down.

Facebook will push your livestream video content out to more people and your followers get a notification when you go live (your followers don’t get a push notification when you post recorded video).

Another benefit of video is that it has a longer lifespan with more people watching the replay. Never feel discouraged because you didn’t have many live viewers. It’s okay because Facebook will continue to push it out to your followers so you’ll continue to get replay viewers.

Get more confident using livestream video with my One-Minute Video Introduction Script.

The benefit of live video is that you have the opportunity to interact with people in real time and when they post a comment – even something like “Hi”, their friends and followers are notified that you are interacting on a page, and that can bring more people over to join the livestream. It feels more personal when you can reply and answer questions in real time, but it’s worth testing to see which format does better for you, and what you enjoy more.

To get even more people to show up and watch your videos, you also want to make sure you have a title that will attract your ideal clients. We shared a great 5-Part Formula for Writing Client-Specific Video Titles here.
