10 Days And A 5-Figure Launch In The Bank
I Think I Found The Missing Key

By: Karen Pattock

This is part four of a five part series I am writing about the successes and failures in my business. Here’s part three if you need to catch up!

So the missing key I had searched to find for years was finally found and I was finally able to unlock the answers to building a highly profitable online coaching business.

The truth is finding the key was both exhilarating and terrifying all at the same time. Exhilarating because I knew exactly what my next step was but terrifying because the next step was a doozy!

So now it’s January of 2014 and I am READY TO GO!

The coaching calls I was having with my business coach were paying off and she had helped me to clearly define what I had been missing in my business to take it to the next level.BROKEN WRIST 1

So there I was with a promotional calendar worked out, an income and expense budget identified and more than anything more drive and ambition than any other time in my business.

We were celebrating in a big way in the Pattock home because our son, Alex was also getting married on January 11th. The first of our four children was going to tie the knot and we couldn’t have been happier.

Then, just like life likes to do… it threw me a curveball.

During the wedding reception around 9:00pm I was trying to pull a friend up on the dance floor, (oh I just love to dance), and rather than joining me like I thought he would… he let go of my hand. Well, I wasn’t expecting that and I fell backward onto the dance floor, (I promise this was not alcohol induced), and I knew the minute I landed that I had broken my wrist.

Are you kidding me??? At my son’s wedding reception I break my wrist? The very first bone I’ve ever broke in my whole life? To say I was distraught was an understatement.

I didn’t say anything to anyone and didn’t make a big deal about it even though I was in a lot of pain. In fact I didn’t even tell my husband for at least an hour. Of course he wanted to take me to the emergency room but come on… it’s my son’s wedding reception. Wild horses couldn’t drag me away and I told my husband that unless I was passed out on the floor we weren’t leaving till the party was over.

I made it through the night without most people knowing. In fact, the bride and groom never knew until after the reception. (Yay for being able to keep a secret!)

One week later I had surgery on my wrist to put in a plate and 10 screws.

OKAY UNIVERSE…. curveball 2014 received!

IMG_3520Why am I telling you this?

Because it shows that no matter what happens you can grow an amazing business when you have a solid plan and systems to fall back on.

My shattered wrist certainly set me back in 2014, but not for long. Within a couple of months I was able to do most tasks on my own and once I could there was no stopping me.

I began building my brand new signature program, The STEP Into More Profits Program.

This was the missing key I had been searching for. My anchor program that defined what I did and who I served. This was a total game-changer for my business.

The STEP Into More Profits program started as a 6-month program that included 26 weekly modules. Needless to say I had my work cut out for me because not only did I have to create all of the weekly material, I had to create the promotional material as well.

By July of that year, I proudly started promoting my 6-month signature program and on July 24th the program went live with 35 new exclusive members and I celebrated my first 5-figure launch.

Yes, you read that right… 5-figures in just 10 days.

So what exactly is the missing key and
how does it apply to your business?

STEP #1 to identifying your missing key: Identify your ideal client.

If you struggle with this just know that I did too in the beginning. Truth is my ideal client continues to refine itself. There isn’t a right or wrong answer here so don’t pressure yourself. Identify a target audience and go for it. Then tweak as you go.

STEP #2 to identifying your missing key: Build a core message around your ideal client.

Your core message is basically the answer to the question, “What do you want to be known for?” Meaning what problem do you solve for your ideal client. Again this can be tweaked along the way. Just don’t let it hold you back now.

STEP #3 to identifying your missing key: Build a signature program around your core message and ideal client.

Your signature program can be a done-for-you program that you purchased or something you create yourself.

The “signature” part of signature program is YOU! You’re the unique, one-of-a-kind component that allows you to stand out from the crowd.

See I told you that it wasn’t as mysterious as I thought it was. It was right in front of my face the entire time; I just needed the right lens to see it.

Missing key….. CHECK! Now what?

WOW! I know that was a little long. I’m going to save the rest of my story for the last part of this series!

Coming up: What I did next to quadruple my income so far in 2015 – including the opportunities I decided to say “no” to that would have put more money in my bank account…
